Caity Hines, Senator
Caity Hines works as a project developer and manager at Encore Renewable Energy, where they lead solar development in New York and Pennsylvania and support engineering, procurement, and construction efforts across the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions. Previously, at WSP, they managed a multi-million-dollar construction portfolio, were the primary facilities support contact for over 2500 federal employees, and supported the solar practice in the construction of over 570 MW DC across the Southeast US region, while serving on WSP's Inclusion & Diversity Council. In addition, Hines co-founded a locally-sourced, handcrafted product line called Comb Creations with their parents.
This is Hines' first society-level leadership role in SWE. At the section level, Hines previously served as president, corporate information sessions director, and summer engineering exploration camp director. Hines brings varied leadership experience to the SWE Senate, including SafePorter Advisory Board member; 500 Women Scientists' (500WS) diversity and inclusion consultant; former 500WS Leadership Board member; and former Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics section executive board member. In addition, Hines has facilitation training through the University of Michigan's Program on Intergroup Relations, where they co-facilitated a course on social identities.
Hines is currently enrolled in the University of Michigan's (UM) Construction Engineering and Management graduate certificate and University of Maryland's Masters of Engineering in Energy Systems Engineering program and holds a B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from UM. They received SWE's Outstanding Collegiate Member Award and Collegiate Emerging Leader Award in 2018 in conjunction with awards for their leadership and community service at UM.
