Cecilia Breda, Senator
Cecilia Breda holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, an M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, and an MBA. She is currently working as Business Unit Manager at John Deere in Brazil. Prior to that Breda had a broad experience in Quality, Design, and Manufacturing Engineering working with Tractors, Combines and Engines in Brazil and United States.
Since 2012, Breda has participated in all SWE annual conferences and also some local ones. She has been very involved to SWE since she was introduced to the Society. She was one of the Rio Grande do Sul Affiliate Founders, where she served as Vice-President and President. Breda served as International Senator during 2014/2015 and as International Senator Alternate in 2018 and was part of the Bylaw Subcommittee and Strategic Initiative Committee. Cecilia was also part of the Governance Task Force that developed the plan we implemented to improve the functionality and efficiency of our governance structure.
Breda was the Outreach Site Lead for Waterloo during 2016 and she is part of the John Deere SWE Award Committee. She has passion on developing people and she is involved on several STEM activities, such as Introducing a Girl to Engineering, Expanding Your Horizon, Cedar Valley STEM Festival, Girls Scout Rally, and Mentoring programs.
During her assignment in U.S., she was the Cedar Valley Section Networking Chair for one year and became the section Vice President later.
Cecilia is currently part of the Senate, she is SWE Ambassador for Brazil, Chair of Campinas Metropolitan Region Affiliate and SWE John Deere leader for all Latin America.
Her achievements were recognized by SHPE through their SHPE Technical Achievement Recognition (STAR) awards and Cecília is the 2017 STAR of Tomorrow award recipient. Breda´s true passion for engineering and dedication to the Society mission also made her a “Distinguish New Engineer” Award recipient 2017.
